The hotel has eight floors and, making the most of the slope on which it’s found, gives the impression of being a hotel staircase. Even with the eight floors, it is an accessible hotel for everyone. In addition to this, from almost anywhere in the hotel you can enjoy some marvellous views and in the hotel there are 12,000m2 of indigenous gardens and terraces which really make the most of the area and its south-facing position.

Communal Areas

Who wouldn’t want to spend all day relaxing next to two outdoor pools? Two magnificent pools - one is heated and has different depths, and the other is for children - where you can enjoy your well-deserved holidays.

Restaurant Buffet Sterlizia

This is a wide, light restaurant with some spectacular views of the coastal area of ‘Costa Adeje’. I arrived at the restaurant at the very moment when they were setting up the food and I must say that the menu offers a wide choice. The buffet has international show cooking stations with a particularly Mediterranean flavour, a variety of drinks and gluten-free food, as well as dietary corner at breakfast and personal advice from the Chef/Maître.

Breakfast is served from 8am to 10:30am, lunch from 1pm to 3pm and dinner from 6:30pm to 9:30pm (in winter) and from 7pm to 10pm in summer. The timings are quite generous and they aim for comfort and relaxation. You can dress however you want.

Snack Bar La Palapa

The bar has some magnificent views towards the sea and the pool. It offers a wide variety of cold and hot snacks, ideal for informal meals while you enjoy a pleasant day next to the hotel pool.

It is open between 10am and 6pm, offering food from 11am to 5pm.

All the beds in the hotel are singles (although they can be joined together to make a Queen-size bed) and they have DREAMAX technology – an exclusive system for Meliá Hotels.

Standard rooms with sea views have the same features as Standard Rooms but from their balcony you can enjoy one of the best views of the Costa Adeje, all part of the package of your holiday.

The Junior Suite has a large room and its terrace allows beautiful views while enjoying the sun in complete exclusivity.

The Kids & Co family room has a large terrace and, as well as the basic features, is has some extras (mainly geared towards younger visitors) which the Standard Rooms do not have, such as (for example) a dolphin, which is the hotel mascot.

Extra Services at the Melia Jardines del Teide

It is the hotel of choice for many nationalities, but in summer many residents of Tenerife decide to spend a few relaxing days at the hotel.

Tenerife Travel Secret

On Tuesday mornings (at more or less midday) in the pool area there is a MacroWelcome by the hotel staff. We were lucky enough to be able to participate and it was very nice to see a cute dolphin (the hotel mascot) followed around by children from the miniclub, and at the end see everyone dancing to music by the pool bar. It is worth starting some entertaining holidays in this way on the Costa Adeje.

One of the notable advantages of the Hotel Melia Jardines del Teide is that it is ‘All inclusive’, and that involves a wide buffet at breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Sterlizia restaurant, drinks (all except the Premium ones), snacks (from 11am to 5pm), ice creams, a programme of activities, evening shows and live music for adults and children, without additional charges.

To make use of everything which is included you have to show an identity bracelet which you will given upon arrival. This is personal to you and non-transferrable, and you will be able to use it until 12pm on the day when you leave.

There is a lively and varied programme of entertainment activities (craft workshops and games), sports and outdoor leisure activities as well as indoor pool-based ones for both adults and children. There is also a mini club for children aged 5 to 12. At the Amber Lounge Bar there are professional shows and live music, and in the Breeze Lobby Bar there is a more relaxed atmosphere. If all this isn’t enough, 5 minutes away by taxi you can find the bustling area which is the Costa Adeje and the Playa de las Américas.

There is a computer corner for internet access (at an extra cost).

You can have a perfect, comfortable holiday with extra services from cleaning to airport transfers (at extra cost).

Getting There

Coming from the direction of the airport you should take exit 78 and cross the motorway bridge, then take the main road until you reach the first roundabout. It is the Canary Island-style hotel on that roundabout.

The hotel is 200m from the Plaza del Duque Shopping Centre and 800m from the Playa del Duque.

Final Comments from the Authors

As on the days when we visited the Hotel Melia Jardines del Teide in February we couldn’t leave our son in the care of his grandparents, he came to ‘work’ with us, and at that hotel they were kind enough to let him play in the children’s area where he sat comfortably. Without doubt this is a hotel where families and young ones really feel at home.

A walk through the general facilities of the hotel was very tranquil and left us looking forward to be able to enjoy at least a few days at this warm, spectacular hotel.
