Guide to Tenerife Airport Transfers
How to Reach your Final Destination

There are few possibilities to arrange Tenerife airport transfers from both airports, however the usual ones are taxi, car hire and public bus transport. Of course that if you have someone to pick you up at the airport, it is even better (and cheaper…).

If you have a package with hotel included, check with your travel agent or directly at the hotel if there’s someone that can pick you up. In some hotels, mainly in the cities closer to the airports, you might not be charged at all for the trip, as a compliment for the reservation.

Below we mention the most common ways to plan your Tenerife airport transfers, with any differentiation for the north and south airports.

Tenerife Airport Transfers by Taxi

Both airports have taxi ranks just outside the buildings, in front and at the side of the arrivals halls. From there you can reach any of the cities in Tenerife, but just remember to book your flight to and from the closest airport of your destination Tenerife – if possible. That way you can save a bit of money to be better spent on your travelling days.

Rates vary per kilometer or part thereof, and at the airport there is a supplement of € 1.65. In the event that the taxi driver has to wait for you, the hourly rate is € 14.54 and the price per every 15 minutes is 3.60 €.

Perhaps it is wise to know how much more or less you will pay the taxi driver, according to the distance of the trip, but obviously the final fare will be determined by the taximeter. The table below gives you an idea of how much will cost your trip, but obviously the taximeter will set the final price:

Don’t forget to have cash on you to pay the driver and never, but never, accept a ride from a taxi that is not the official one, located in the specific taxi ranks just outside the buildings.

Tenerife Airport Transfers by Public Bus

Using the public bus service is also another good choice, since both airports are well connected to other parts of the island. The stops for the “guaguas” (as the buses are called in the Canaries) are located in front of the arrival gates. These are the main lines linking the airports to the cities:

Tenerife Airport Transfers by Car Rental

You can also find at the airports some cheap car hire companies, listed below. They are located in the entrance floor of both airports.

  • Auto Reisen
  • Avis
  • Cicar
  • Europcar
  • Goldcar (South Airport)
  • Hertz

The Island provides rental car services from other companies, however, the ones located at airports are well known, and the chances to have problems before, during and after the rental are lower than when renting with any other company. Of course, that does not mean that any other company is not reliable, nor that the above mentioned ones are 100% safe. It is just a simple possibility…
