This month nearly always means its carnival and party time, but this year we're going to have to wait until the very last days of the month for the Carnival. Other activities and things to do in Tenerife

But as well as one of the best-known winter festivals in the world, Tenerife has a lot more to offer: exhibitions, concerts, children's events, sporting attractions, etc. If you want to have fun here you definitely will …  Of course, if you think that something is missing (or we’ve made a mistake with the dates), please let us know by leaving a comment.

And last but not least, one of the biggest advantages of Tenerife is that throughout the year the range of activities that can be tried is very broad, so we've chosen some of our regulars.

Things to do in Tenerife in February 2017: Traditional festivals

2nd February – the culminating moment in the celebration of the Virgen de Candelaria (patron saint of the Canary Islands) is the Las Candelas Procession, which takes place the night before the Day of La Candelaria (1st February). All of the lights in the town of Candelaria are turned off and the parishioners light candles to say the rosary with total devotion while processing. One of the best festivities and things to do in Tenerife in February 2017.

22nd February to 5th March – this year the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival will be inspired by ‘the 80s’. This is a festival which has been declared of international interest to tourists in which thousands of people take to the streets to enjoy the party, the rhythm, the joy and the good mood. You can position yourself on one side of the Avenida Marítima and see the troupes, street musicians, people in fancy dress, the Carnival Queen and other candidates, etc. Rarely will you see something so colourful as this event in Santa Cruz. One of the top things to do in Tenerife in February 2017 during carnival.

28th February - Carnival Tuesday is celebrated in other towns on the island. For example, in La Orotava that morning there will be a large, nostalgic vintage car race, and in the afternoon the locals go out dancing in the streets. Other activities and things to do in Tenerife in February 2017

The advantage of Tenerife is that in the south of the island almost 95% of the year is sunny and the ambient temperature is very pleasant. We therefore invite you to spend the day at Siam Park, where adults and teenagers will be able to enjoy their winter holidays with a summery injection of toboggans and water. Spend the day at Siam Park is one of the best things to do in Tenerife in February 2017, but also in the other months of the year.

Another place in Tenerife where there is almost always good weather throughout the year is the Parque Marítimo, so making the most of so many Carnival-related activities in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you could go for a quick dip between festivals.

With Anaga Experience you can do an excursion through the Anaga mountains to get to Antequera Beach … This is an experience which we tried in September, but we believe that it can also be adapted for the winter months. If it’s a clear day you will be able to see the majesty of the Teide from one of the most distant places where you can make it out. That's why an activity with the team of Anaga Experience is one of the best things to do in Tenerife in February 2017.

There is almost no place in Europe where you can play better golf than in the Canaries, and in Tenerife you have the opportunity to play with friends or acquaintances at Amarilla Golf. Fancy it?

You don’t need to go to the Caribbean to enjoy an outing on the high seas in February – Tenerife Sailing Charters puts it on a plate for you. Choose the option which suits you best: a romantic outing at sunset, hiring one of their boats as a group to see the pilot whales and dolphins which live permanently in the waters to the south of Tenerife, having a party on board … The horizon is your limit

February also offers you the opportunity to discover one of the best-kept secrets in Tenerife: visit the Güímar Pyramids where you will learn the different theories surrounding them as well as about customs, traditions and Canary Island culture. You will be able to go deep into the exotic venomous garden which is unique in Spain and will get the opportunity to learn more about what happened on Easter Island without having to go to the Antipodes. Without a doubt there is a lot to learn, during a visit to the park - one of the best things to do in Tenerife in February 2017.

Red Rock Kite & Surf Academy is the perfect excuse to get into the sea, and for that one of the best things to do in Tenerife in February 2017. Take advantage of any windy day and head for Médano and you won’t be sorry you learned one of the aquatic sports which the surf school offers.
